Katie oversees our firm's busy Family Court practice.
Prior to entering partnership with Matt, Katie practiced on her own account as principal lawyer of her business, Paterson Law and prior to that, Katie worked for a large litigation firm for 8 years. Katie is a senior Family Court lawyer with a focus on Lawyer for Child appointments and has significant experience representing clients in complex Family Court cases. Katie also undertakes criminal defence work and has undertaken regulatory prosecutions for local authorities. Katie is a fearless advocate for her clients and is respected for her commitment to achieving the best results for her clients.

Matt oversees our firm's criminal and civil litigation practice. Matt is an experienced litigator who regularly undertakes criminal trial work as well as maintaining a busy Family Court practice, including Lawyer for Child appointments. Matt is also an experienced civil litigator. Matt initially commenced practice with a boutique commercial firm in Wellington before spending 11 years at a large litigation practice in Lower Hutt. Matt brings years of practical experience to the advice he provides clients, with a focus on achieving their desired outcome. Matt is respected for his excellent judgment and fearless advocacy. He is a lawyer that you want in your corner.
RENÉE BAYER

Renée joined Paterson Anderson as
an Associate in June 2023 and practices in the areas of criminal defence, family law and civil litigation. Renée started her career as a Judge's Clerk at the District Court in Manukau. She then worked for a number of years at a litigation firm in Lower Hutt and most recently worked in litigation across the Wellington and Horowhenua regions. Renée has an extensive knowledge of the law, provides robust legal advice and is a strong advocate for her clients.
Renée is currently on parental leave.
